Modern Art for Modern Living
California Made - Norway Inspired
VISITING MY GRANDPARENTS IN OSLO AND BEING SURROUNDED BY THE SIMPLE SCANDINAVIAN LIFE IS THE INSPIRATION OF THIS COLLECTION.
I strive to make the minutia of every day come to life so it isn’t taken for granted. I hope that by enlarging the smallest droplets of beauty, people will stop to appreciate the fact that even the most common parts of life contain infinite beauty. I love experimenting with shapes and color combination for each piece to take on a different kind of energy. The inks bring a life of their own. Enlarging my pieces elevate the art to a whole new level for the viewer to truly experience the pieces. There is a certain excitement and beauty by using the simple medium of a various inks. The color combinations mixed with wild shapes energize my pieces against a stark white background.
I have spent a number of summers with my mother's family in Norway where I am exposed to the duality of nature and design that continues to inspire my contemporary work. As an emerging artist, my art is rooted in both freedom of expression as well as my attraction to the simple and sleek styles that define Scandinavia.
I am passionate about the arts, therefore I continue to learn about different techniques including encaustics, watercolor, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, calligraphy and more. Experimenting within these multitudes of mediums over the years has lead me to my current modern style, which reflects my admittedly quirky, colorful personality, making a great partnership between my art and myself.
MY MOM GREW UP IN A SMALL APARTMENT ON HJELMSGATE IN OSLO. MY GRANDPARENTS LIVED IN THAT APARTMENT FOR OVER 60 YEARS.
